EDS can affect skin in different ways depending on subtype. Features may include soft or unusually stretchy skin, easy bruising, fragile skin or slower wound healing. Some EDS types have distinctive scarring patterns. Because skin findings vary and can overlap with other conditions, photographs and online checklists cannot establish a diagnosis on their own. Significant wounds, unexplained bruising or concerns about healing should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
